About Cox’s Bazar City College

Cox’s Bazar attracts people with its longest unbroken sandy sea beach, scenic hills, and investment opportunities. However, educational opportunities, especially at the tertiary level, remained very limited in the district for a long time. As a result, many enthusiastic students had to drop out after completing their secondary education.

In the early nineties, a team of young, educated individuals led by renowned educationist Prof. Momtajul Haque decided to establish a private college in Cox’s Bazar. The founding team included Mr. Anwar Sadat, Advocate Faridul Alam, and Prof. Ajit Das. Later, they welcomed Mr. Nurul Absorb (then Chairman of Cox’s Bazar Pourashava), politician Mr. Ekramul Huda Chy, journalist Mr. Bodiul Alam, and Mr. Abu Md. Jafar Sadeq to their initiative. Through their joint efforts, Cox’s Bazar City College began its journey as a higher secondary educational institute in 1993. Over the years, it has grown into one of the top-ranked postgraduate colleges in the southern region of Bangladesh.

Rules and Regulations

The college operates as a full-fledged master’s level institution affiliated with the National University, Bangladesh. It offers honours and master’s courses in various disciplines. Situated at the heart of the city, the college draws the attention of scholars and educators alike.

It maintains a congenial atmosphere, focuses on achieving high academic standards, and fosters strong teacher-student relationships. The examination system and teaching methods have become a model for others to follow. The founders established the college to expand educational opportunities for underprivileged students in the region.

To improve educational standards and fulfil its mission, the college implements several measures:
